I made a first cut mod list for the 128i that came in between 5 and 6k before labor, and I have no garage. In other words, “fuck it, let’s buy a DRZ-400SM”, or “fuck it, I’m buying an NB”.

If I was throwing sense to the wind it's be closer to 11,000 before labor. It'd be what's listed above but with a upgraded intercooler pump and a carbon fiber airbox for even more power.

Yeah, mine were pretty mild, other than the DISA upgrade. As it is, I’m still spending about 2 grand because the new wheels and tires are kind of non-negotiable (you need two sets of tires to drive RWD in New England, full stop).

It was basically: Two sets of tires and one set of wheels: $2000

DISA Intake manifold and tune: $1800

Cold Air Intake: $500

Full suspension refresh (shocks, springs, FSB): $800

Those are dope.

I might caution that at $875 for a set of 4 rims with bolts, these are likely Chinese knockoffs and not OEM. There are some smartsy fartsy peeps on oppo that would be able to tell you what symbols to look for in the casting to ensure they are OEM, if that is what you are looking for.

They still look like the real thing, though. As Andre Agassi sez, “Image is everything”

Part list I put together for the 335i is over $7k before labor.. And that’s after I stopped myself from going on.

-BBS LM-R’s (~$1200 a wheel)

-LSD (~$2k)

-FBO+Tune (stopped adding up because it made my head hurt lol)

-Bilstein c/o’s ($1800)

Etc.

I’m strongly considering it, though the experience I had with my GS500 has lent skepticism to further motorcycle endeavors. The GS was heavy and wide, so a thumper with a nearly hundred pound reduction in dry weight may do the trick. Even so, I currently have nowhere to park it.

the GS500 is a beginners bike through and through. its not particularly fast, exciting, eager to turn or anything. its cheap and reliable and slow. and thats all it needed to be.

pretty much any other bike is going to be an upgrade in some way or another.

I know I should be careful, the S65 rims are just a lovely rare item

Yeah, throttle, braking, none of that was an issue, but I was unprepared for how wide the fairing made it feel (an 05 GS500F) and it was tippy as hell and hard to walk around. That and when I dropped it for the first time, I took out a turn signal and left some gnarly scatches on the fairing. The real problem though was that I had to park it at my parents’ house 15 miles away and was only riding twice a month during the summer. I’m game to try motorcycling again, but only when I can park the bike at my place and ride whenever I want.

i admit, i’ve not sat behind a faird GS. but the fairingg on my SV arent tht wide. then again I might just be used to it. I never liked the naked look anyways.

tippy as hell? dude, its a several hundred pound hunk of metal. ALL of them are going to be tippy. its isnt a car with 4 wheels.

turnsignals and scratchs: that bothers your becausseee? its a GS500, i’m amazed it didnt have scratchs before hand.

Yeah, yeah, I know. I should have bought a cheaper, more beat up bike to start with, but yeah, it bothered me. This was also a surprisingly mint bike, which means I paid more than I should have, too.

Ultimately the lack of riding time was way more of a problem than the bike. It meant I spent four months riding and was still having newb issues because I couldn’t practice.

dude, I know guy that have been riding for 30 year that still have newb issues.

main because their ‘riding’ consisted of puttering around main street and a grand total of 3k miles a year and trailering the bike to sturgis a couple of times.

fucking ninnies.

Yeah, if I had a place to put a bike, I’d probably consider getting one again. And if I had one, I’d ride it...

Don’t you think $2,980 would be better spent on the intercooler pump upgrade kit? Longevity mods before performance mods.

I just replaced my intercooler pump in August. When it goes again it will be replaced with a renntech unit as well.
